Caddy is a town land situated approximately 2.5 miles N.E of Randalstown going next Ballymena. Our hall is the only real focal point for the residents in this rural area with the former primary school, post office and shop now closed.
The main users of the hall were the Caddy Orange Lodge though due to long standing users Randalstown Y.F.C and other occasional users, it was suggested that there was a strong base for a community group.
Lodge members took the lead in the group formation, having called a meeting to which local residents, friends and family were invited.
Hence on the 30th March 1999 The Caddy & District Community Group was formed.
The groups main activities include, assisting local residents with any problems, educational bus trips, local history exhibitions, information evenings, fun days, barbecues and anything else that might be suggested.
As well as Randalstown Y.F.C. other sub groups are Caddy Womens Group, Caddy Fife and Drum Group and Caddy Ulster Scots Society each holding their own varied events.
At the time of the groups formation our hall had no toilets, kitchen, no running water and the building was in bad state. After a massive effort by group members to raise money and also by receiving funding the hal is now fully renovated and extended. On Saturday 17th September 2005 our hall was officially opened by two of our senior members.
We would like to thank all sponsers and funders who without, this would not have been possible. Also we are most grateful for the help and guidance we continually receive from the Community Development Sector and Community Resource Team within Antrim Borough Council.
